Mouth shut are we about the traffic snarls?

Stuck in a bad traffic snarl and getting increasing impatient about the long wait, I glanced at this advertisement on the rear of an auto rickshaw.

And for the two wheeler driver and me the AD was staring in the face!

It struck a chord and had me in splits! It was so very true. Is n't it symptomatic of most Bangaloreans approach to the Traffic issues in the city (that includes me!)?

Are n't we mouth shut about the state of things?!

Incidentally, Mouthshut.com is an Indian website that allows consumers to critically review products and services.

STOP PRESS: Superman sighted at Bangalore!!!

No kidding! This "Superman" was sighted in Bangalore! After the recent reports about UFO sightings in the city why not?! The young man with the bull adds to the classic touch!

Ok! Ok! Let me cut the suspense...
Look closer in the picture and this is what you see.... (photo below)

Superman is just a creation of "Classic Fibre works"! The flying cape made it look really authentic didn't it?! The have Vivekananda, Ambedkar and Sai Baba on their roof top!

This is a story NDTV and CNN-IBN would die for! given all the sensational reporting of late... If you report for them catch me offline to find out where? :-)

Firefox! You can browse....Cycles not web pages....

The Firefox store! At CMH road in Indiranagar a popular residential area in Bangalore. The shop's name is no coincidence. Surely intends to cash is on the popularity of its namesake browser.

The shop surely gets every passer by to take notice, even pause and browse their bike collection and accessories.... Lets not forget the key target customer is the IT guy!

Beast of burden?

How much can this lady carry? Scene captured near Mayo Hall and Bangalore central mall in downtown Bangalore.

We are growing at a staggering 9% GDP and the world is watching in awe. So are we at the rocketing prices and the social divide. All the rocketing growth in the city has done nothing to better life for this lady.

Growth sadly creates a social divide between the haves and the have nots.

The hungry camel...

Wonder if these poor beats are fed. The camel was too greedy and literally polished off the green cover on this tree, leaving only the branches!

We are going to war.... against poverty!

This was an odd sight. I could visualize a Bofors Howitzer gun when I saw this sight. It is just a new kind of war we are waging... an economic one... the economic boom is surely help address the poverty problem a bit.

Road repairs - the truly unique way!

I was heading to work and I saw this man scurrying back and forth from the side walk to the center of the road with a buck of dirt in his hand. This really caught my attention and I was compelled to stop and shoot him in action. He would empty the bucket of dirt in the pot hole and run back between traffic signals to avoid the traffic. His colleague was busy digging near the sidewalk to help re-fill the bucket with dirt.

I know these pot holes out here really need attention. But I was not sure whether to appreciate their quick fix or get angry about the shoddy approach. I ended of smiling and in splits. I was laughing out loud uncontrollably at the state of things.

No equipment. No gear. No boots. No hats for protection. No traffic alert signs. It is high time we got some structure around these things. Granted this is not the norm, but still...

Street smart and creative cobbler

Noticed this cobbler be the curb as I was driving to work. It is hot... damn hot and this guy needs to be on the street to get his customers. See how he beats the heats. He makes a makeshift small canopy for himself and squats under it. If this isnt street smart and creative... what is? He noticed me shoot him on my cameraphone... not the smile.... Nice!

Camels in the traffic!

It was a rare sight to see Camels crossing the road in peak traffic! It was quite a sight with a BTS bus passing by.

Handle with care! This one's for the driver...

Seen on Aiport road, Bangalore. The laden two wheeler makes one wonder if the "Handle with care" caution is more for the driver of the two wheeler than the carton itself! Posted by Picasa
